We are back! We had such a wonderful time with Dave’s family…all of them…and let me tell you he has a huge family! They are always so warm and welcoming…I’m lucky to have married into it! Coen LOVED hanging out with all his cousins and running around his Grandma Pam and Papa Ron’s huge house, although he really isn’t used to having so much space! He got lost a few times and would come up to me and say “Mom! I was looking all over for you!”, yes, their house really is that big!
Here are a few highlights from the trip…
- Even though he is usually so far away from that side of the family he still loves them just as much as his family here. It was so cute when we were all dishing up our Thanksgiving meal and Coen announced “I love Papa Ron!” totally out of the blue. So cute.
- We had a visit from the family paramedic not once but TWICE!! First for Coen’s cousin Shelby who fell and banged her head on a table…and second for Coen who had a mighty high temp and diarrhea.
- While all the kids were down in the gym (did I mention they have a huge house?) Grandma Pam surprised everyone by throwing in a gallon container of bouncy balls! Coen was in absolute heaven!! It was sooo funny!
- Dave’s sister Lisa’s husband who is a farmer has been growing out his beard since the start of harvest and they dressed his head in a turban (dishcloth) and decided that they found Osama! It was hilarious!! Quite the resemblance! I actually have a photo of this but I am saving it for blackmail material! 😉
Coen got sick with a stomach flu the day we were supposed to leave…which is becoming a trend since the last time we were there he also had the stomach flu! At least Grandma Pam is a seasoned pro at these sort of things. She has 4 other grandkids so she knows exactly what to do! We are lucky that we were there! We had to cancel our flight back and rebook for the next day but it worked out in the end because with all of the holiday fuss Dave didn’t get any real quality time with them, so with us staying he really got some good one on one time with his folks (me, I was stuck in an easy chair with poor Coen…but no worries, they have cable! Woot!)
We came back and even had a little time to pull out the xmas decorations, which Coen really got into. He is feeling the spirit and I can’t wait for xmas to come. It’s going to be so much fun!!
I really was a lame-o and didn’t pull out my camera as much as I meant too…but here are a few snapshots!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
