Geyer Family Photos!

Wooo Hooooo! We FINALLY got some pictures of the three of us together! Jamie spent the morning with us and worked a little photog magic! Go over to her place and check out the pics! (set one and set two)

Thanks you so much Jamie! These are definitely getting prime wall space in our home! You were an awesome photographer and as Dave put it, “well that was a fun way to spend the morning!”.

I Heart Fridays!

I heeeaaarrrt Fridays! I know most people do too but for me it’s extra special because

a) I have Friday’s off of work, and
b) I get to spend the entire day playing with Coen.

I have kind of an unspoken rule for Fridays…whatever Coen wants to do, we do. And he always picks such fun stuff!

Today we went to the Bouncy Place, which is basically a warehouse full of GIANT inflatable slides. They are SUPER high (actually it kind of makes me a little nervous to watch all the kiddos climbing up to the top…I’m talking 50 feet straight up! Or at least it looks that high!) and so much fun to slide down. Then we had some lunch (grilled cheese and top ramen (gross, I know but Coen loves it! He affectionately calls it “slurping noodles”) then a nice nap…then wake up and Coen decides he wants to make cupcakes, so guess what? That’s what we do!

We have so much fun hanging out. It’s one of the reasons that I like to work a bit outside the home…I know that if I stayed home it’s be awesome too, but I really treasure the time we spend together in the afternoon and on our Fridays.

On Thursday night I tell Coen “Guess what day it is tomorrow? Friday!” And we share a little giggle of excitement together, rub our hands back and forth and start planning our adventures. I heart Fridays.

Getty/Flickr partnership goes LIVE!

And check it out! Here are my images!

Not my best work for sure, LOL, but I guess the pics  fit whatever niche Getty needed to fill! (and I swear if the one of my hubby and I gets used for Viagra or something like it I’m going to crack).

I was pretty convinced that once these images went through the “official” approval process the people at Getty would say to themselves “What the heck were we thinking when we chose these?” but to my shock they made it through!

It’ll be interesting to see if any of them sell…I’ll keep you all in the loop for sure!

A few things I learned during this experience…

– ALWAYS keep your original file, even if you NEVER think you will EVER use that photo for ANYTHING. You never know who’s eye they might catch.  I had just deleted a bunch of my files when I got the email from Getty and unfortunately one of the images they liked I had deleted (and my Flickr version had been downsized for faster uploading)! Boo hoo!

– Try to crop in camera as much as possible…I’m a notorious photoshop cropper and this also makes the file size too small for sale.

You can see more of the collection here.

But I’m still pretty excited! And it made up for the fact that we woke up this morning to a blizzard and had to cancel our photo-shoot with Jamie that we were so excited about!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

I’m no Barbara Walters

Christina over at Momology did a really cute little interview with her daughter a few days ago. I really wanted to do a similar interview with Coen for his birthday but this was all I got…

Me: What is your favorite food?

Coen: No!

Me: Okay…What is something that you do really well?

Coen: STOP! Why are you asking me those silly questions? Why don’t you ask me if I want to go bowling or if I want to go to the Bouncy Place? That would be a good question.

I was laughing so hard and that was about as far as we got…maybe next year.

He models for M&Ms…

I think this scary face was taken a bit too far…

Coen turns 3!

Coen has been talking about turning three for 6 months…mainly because one day at Ikea he saw the kid area that includes a ball pit, which must be some kind of heaven for a 2.5 year old boy. Unfortunately, you had to be 3 in order to play in there… so the dream of being three ensued.

He would talk about his third birthday constantly….what he would do, who would be there, how many candles would be on his cake…but most importantly…the “ball thingy”…the mythical Ikea funland.

Since he had been talking about it for so long I wanted to make sure that the real thing lived up! So I decorated the house as he slept the night before…he awoke to balloons and streamers (which he promptly tore down) and chocolate chip pancakes. Then we head over to Ikea and he FINALLY played in the ball pit! Then we went bowling with Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Chad…then back home for lasagna and cake and ice cream.

Such fun! I will never forget his little face as we were singing Happy Birthday…he was SOOOOO excited!

This is a Seattle Sounders soccer ball…which he tested out a little today…

This photo will make me laugh FOREVER! It’s definitely one to frame! We had a passerby click the shutter (can you image how hard it is to get 5 people to jump at the right time when you are using a camera timer? Not that we didn’t try!) and they thought it was hilarious.

There was more than one complaint of sore knees after that shot…I guess we really are getting old! Haha!

We laughed, we cried…but mostly laughed

Have you ever laughed until your cheeks cramped up? My girls and I had the funnest time EVER in Seaside. I went with a group of friends that I have known for 57 YEARS, well, at least if you put all those years together! I am truly and completely blessed to have these lovely ladies still so close to my heart and home. It’s so awesome to be around the people you literally grew up with…they know all the history that makes you, YOU.

I actually didn’t take as many photos as I had hoped to…but sometimes you just gotta put down the camera and really enjoy the moments. So that is what I did. I did pound out a few though…but Amy took home the gold medal for taking some awesome landscapes, cool jumping photos (I will share them when she sends them to me), and one hilarious video of all of us (which I’m not sure if I am ballsy enough to share).

Thanks ladies for an awesome time! Even if we did accidentally slip into a few adult moments (um, waking up at 7am because we didn’t want to “waste the day”, when the heck did THAT happen? Oh and the conversation about the sinking economy, ack!), there was still enough potty humor to go around, and that makes me very happy.

Example of why I’m not a landscape photographer…

I love this one…I’ve always adored a good blurry photo.
