Seattle Family Photographer ~ Alki Beach

When I received an email from this mother inquiring about a photo-session I was THRILLED when she used the words that most documentary-style photographers love to hear from their clients – creative, candid and fun. She had already gotten her yearly “everybody smile and look at the camera” shots and she really wanted some photos the showed the personalities of her kids and the love that she has for them. Enter me. ūüôā

I had this hair-brained idea that it might be fun to head down to Alki¬†beach and go tide-pool hunting…in January. Ummmmm…can we say, not the best idea in the world for freezing conditions?! She and her boys were seriously troopers as we wandered about and took a few photos before finally calling it good. Bonus? We get to do it again…in better weather. It wasn’t a total bust, though… see below for evidence. If you scroll all the way down there is also a fun little video that Dave put together with his new fancy camera.

Brooke I hope you like your mini-session preview!

Seattle Family Photographer ~ J2D2

They call themselves J2D2¬†(Jill, Jeremy, Derick, and Darla), isn’t that the most clever clan name you’ve ever heard?! We had SO MUCH FUN. I love it when I have¬†photo shoots¬†with families that are up for anything and aren’t afraid of spending a little time meandering about and playing games and having fun.

Thanks J2D2!! I hope you like your preview! Video is coming soon!

We met up at a library…but it was CLOSED! Luckily, there was a firehouse across the street. Thanks Renton Fire-fighters for letting us play on the engines!

Then we went across the river for some pretty nature shots. I love this little combination…Daddy and daughter.

Such lovely little ladies…

I also love this little combination…if you look closely, you can see that Jill and Darla pretty much just switched expressions on the second shot…cute!

I have to say it was really fun taking pictures of a little girl (and as cute as this!)…sometimes it nice to break up the all boy thing I have going on at my place.

I had to grab a couple photos of them (gasp) without the kiddos…adorable!

If this were my kid…I would SO make this into a canvas wall hanging. I love her expression here and it’s just so artsy!

This child doesn’t stay still for long…unless of course he is making funny faces at you!

We ended the session with the kids Halloween costumes…since it happened to be Halloween on that very day!

Sometimes it’s hard saving the world from evil villains…

Luckily, little sister is a fairy princess and she can make it all better.

Sophia ~ Seattle Newborn Photography

This afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting little miss Sophia. You might remember the video Dave and I did of their family as they awaited her arrival into the world.¬† It seems like I just photographed her big brother’s newborn session…oh wait, I did! A mere year ago! Phew…little Mama has her work cut out for her!

Sneak peek time! Now I have to get back to editing photos!

As a photographer, there is always one image I fall hard for from a session…this one is it. I just love how REAL it is…the peeling hands, the scrunched up face…LOVE! It’s just totally my style.

Our park

I rented some fancy camera lenses (85mm 1.8 rocks my world…and now it is MINE! Sorry budget…you lose). I tested it out on none other than the Geyer boys. And since Dave sent me this link to some cute storyboard templates…viola!

P.S. Blake’s hair right corner bottom…yes, it always looks like that…no it isn’t on purpose. He has two cow licks (isn’t that what they are called?) that spin in opposite direction from each other, side by side, creating a tiny mohawk. He will hate it when he is older. We keep thinking that if we just let his hair grow a little more it will soon fall over, but alas. This child is destined for a crew cut (or at least a real mohawk, someday).

Babies, babies everywhere!

It seems as if everywhere I look I see a pregnant lady or a newborn (or is it just me?).

One of my favorite co-workers had her baby a few weeks ago and I have been begging her to let me come over and snap some pics of her little guy since I found out she was pregnant. He is such a little cutie and it was really fun to see his mommy in mommy mode! Here are my favs! I hope you like!
